Biography

Mr. Bilyy studied at Odessa’s state conservatory and vocal department until 2000. After his studies he has been winning several singing competitions including Placido Domingo’s Operalia (4th price) in 2004.

From 2005 he has been engaged at Metropolitan Opera in varies productions, most recently as Count di Luna/Il Trovatore in 2010, as Rodrigo/Don Carlos, Germont/La Traviata and Yeletskiy/Queen of Spades in 2011 (cover) and in 2012 Shaklovity/Khovanshchina.

Other recent engagements include his debut at La Scala, where he sang the part of Miller in Luisa Miller and Ezio /Attila in Santiago in 2012.

Engagements in 2013 included his debut as Macbeth at La Scala, Milan, Il Trovatore in Santiago, Di Luna in Munich, Alfio at La Scala.

Other performances have taken the baritone to opera houses such as La Fenice di Venezia, San Carlo di Napoli, Padova, Moscow and Santiago. Bilyy’s core repertoire includes among others Enrico /Lucia di Lammermoor, Rangoni and Shelkalov/Boris Godunov, Escamilio/Carmen, Onegin/Eugene Onegin, Zurga/Les Pecheurs de Perles, Marcello/La Boheme, Macbeth, Conte di Luna/Trovatore, Renato/Ballo, etc.
