Filipp Evich

Biography

Born in Minsk, Filipp Evich graduated from St. Petersburg State Conservatory as an opera singer (class of Grair Khanedanian) in 2015.
In 2021 he also completed the Higher Course of Directing at the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (class of Vladimir Shestakov) as a musical theater director.

Since 2011 Evich has been a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Academy of Young Opera Singers, where he has played numerous leading roles.

In 2017-19 he was director and company manager at the St. Petersburg theatre corporation ‘William the Cat’ (previously known as Tavrik Theatre).

In 2019 Evich founded and became the artistic director of St. Petersburg Students’ Musical Theatre. Its projects now engage more than a hundred of the city’s young artists.

Between 2015 and 2021 Evich staged more than thirty musical performances in theatres of St. Petersburg and other Russian cities. Among them were operas and operettas, shows for children, plastic performances, theatricalized shows and concerts.
He also composed music for three of those performances.

Since 2017 Evich has been a trainee in Saint Petersburg State Youth Theatre on Fontanka.
Since 2021 he has been assistant to director Alexey Stepanyuk at St. Petersburg State Conservatory’s department of opera singing.

His recent works include:
In 2019 — a fairy tale opera Black Gold by Rustam Sagdiev (staged in towns of Nyagan and Beloyarsky, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, Russia).
In 2020 — a plastic performance Annike the Stone Bride (libretto by Maria Meshcherskaya), for which he also composed the music. The show participated in the Christmas Parade Festival of St. Petersburg.
In 2021 — The Mermaids, an opera, for which he also created libretto and music. The show won the nomination of ‘Best Musical Performance’ at the amateur theatre contest ‘Grani’ (St. Petersburg).
In 2021 — Eugene Onegin, based on the opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and created with an intent to produce a practice opportunity for young vocalists graduating from specialized schools. The work won St. Petersburg Government’s grant /Best Youth Project 2021/.
