Biography
Johnny Eliasen was trained at the Royal Danish Ballet School from the age of seven years. In 1966 he joined the Royal Danish Ballet and in 1972, he was appointed principal dancer. Since his debut as Brighella in Pierrot Lunaire in 1967, Eliasen has starred in nearly the entire repertoire of the Royal Danish Ballet, including the full range of Bornonville ballets, and а large number of both classic and modem ballet, many television productions including Aureole with Rudolf Nureyev, at the same time he was teaching full time at the Royal Danish Ballet School. In 1987 he joined the English National Ballet as balletmaster, teacher and dancer. In 1990 Eliasen moved to Berlin Ballet as principal balletmaster and teacher. In 1994 he retumed to the Royal Danish Ballet as Assistant Director and in 1995–1997 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet.During his career Eliasen has been touring intemational with the Royal Danish Ballet, English National Ballet, Deutsche Oper Berlin and danced Pierrot Lunaire, Aureole, and Songs of а Waxfarer with Rudolf Nureyev in New York, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Vienna, Manila and Copenhagen.
Eliasen has been guest teaching for the Australien Ballet since 1981 as well as English National Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet Moscow, Royal Ballet Covent Garden London, The Mariinsky Ballet St. Petersburg, La Scala Milano, Houston Ballet, Bejart Ballet, Het National Ballet, Dalles Ballet, Paris Opera, Finnish National Ballet, Deutsche Oper Berlin, The Norwegian National Ballet, Stanislavsky Ballet Moscow, Basel Ballet, Ballet West Salt Lake City, Vienna Stats Oper Ballet, Ballet Met Columbus, Ballet Deutsche Oper ат Rhien, Singapore Dance Theater, Split Ballet, Stiefel and Stars, Ballet Vlaanderen, National Ballet School of Canada, Australien Ballet School, the Royal Ballet School, Bartholin Intemational Ballet Seminar, Goh Ballet Vancouver, Finnish National Ballet School, Bejart Ballet School and Colorado College. Staging: La Sylphide, Napoli, Le Conservatoire, Etudes, Flower Festival.
In 2001–2002 Eliasen joined the Peter Schaufuss Ballet as principal Balletmaster.
From 2002 Eliasen has been а freelance guest teacher and instructor.
