Biography

Viktor Antipenko studied voice and choral conducting at the Glinka Choral College in St. Petersburg. While still a student, he took part in the recording of Prokofiev’s On Guard for Peace with Yuri Temirkanov. After graduation he joined the Mariinsky Theatre, performing as a choral and solo artist. In 2007 he graduated from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
In 2009-2012 he studied at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia with Bill Schuman. He performed the roles of Luigi in Puccini’s Il Tabarro and Riccardo in Verdi’s Oberto in the AVA concert versions at the Kimmel Center.

His credits include Don Jose in Bizet’s Carmen with the Allentown Symphony, Kodaly’s Psalmus Hungaricus with the New York Metamorphoses Orchestra, the roles of Shepherd and Sailor (Tristan und Isolde) and Malcolm (Macbeth) with Opera de Lyon.

In 2012 he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre as Don Jose (Carmen). In 2013 he performedthe role of Eric (Der fliegende Holländer).
