Adam Palka

Biography

Adam Palka studied voice under Professor Florian Skulski at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. From 2007 to 2009 he was the professor’s assistant at his alma mater.

Mr Palka has performed in Germany, France, Switzerland, Hungary, and Russia. He took part in the world premiere of Kassern’s Comedy of a Dumb Wife. In 2006 he was invited to sing in a concert version of The Italian Girl in Algiers featuring Ewa Podleś in the leading role. In 2007 he received a scholarship at the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto, where he prepared the role of Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville. In 2008 he sang Collatinius in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia at the opera festival in Szeged, Hungary, held in association with Mezzo TV.

Since 2005 he has been performing with the Baltic Opera. In Gdańsk he sang Zbigniew in The Haunted Manor, Collin in La bohème, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Collatinius in The Rape of Lucretia, Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, and Banco in Macbeth. In the spring of 2008 he debuted at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera as Sparafucile. He sang the role again at the Poznań Opera House in 2010 on the opening night of a new production of Rigoletto.

Mr Palka peforms with the philharmonics of Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź, Gdańsk, Częstochowa, Kielce, and Olsztyn. In the 2009/2010 season he was a member of the opera studio of the Zurich Opera, then was a soloist with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, where he sang Don Basilio, Leporello, Figaro, and Colline. In the 2013/2014 season he joined the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he sings Walter (Luisa Miller), Don Basilio, Leporello, Rodolfo (The Somnambulist), Gremin (Onegin), and Colline.

For his artistic achievemnets he was honoured in 2009 with theatre awards of the mayor of Gdańsk and the regional governement of the Pomorskie Province. In 2010 he won the second prize at the 7th International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw. In 2011 he reached the finals of Placido Domingo’s Operalia in Moscow and was invited to work with the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. In 2013 he debuted in Opéra de Lille as Don Basilio. In 2015 he sang Publio in The Clemency of Tito at Opéra de Saint-Etienne.

In the 2015/2016 he performed in Toulon as Ferrando in Il trovatore, Sir Giorgio in The Puritans in Stuttgart and Walter Furst in Guillaume Tell at the Polish National Opera, Warsaw.

In the 2016/2017 he sang Méphistophélès in Gounod`s Faust in Stuttgart and Darmstadt.
