December, 15 (evening performance) the title role in Romeo and Juliet will be performed by an amazing Canadian dancer Guillaume Côté – creator of Romeo’s part in Alexei Ratmansky’s production, commissioned by the National ballet of Canada (NBC).

About two years ago a concert version of fascinating Il Viaggio a Reims by Rossini was performed on the Bolshoi’s Historical stage. After several performances it became clear that we should include this opera in our repertoire. This idea came from the Music Director of the Bolshoi: Tugan Sokhiev conducted it in 2017, and now he also serves as a conductor. 11.12.2018

Il Barbiere di Siviglia — the most popular opera buffa by Gioacchino Rossini — returns to the Bolshoi. The new production of this piece will be staged on the New Stage by maestro Pierre Giorgio Morandi, a famous Italian conductor invited for the first time to the Bolshoi, and the director of our beloved Le Nozze di Figaro (to music by Mozart, 2015) Evgeny Pisarev, so this is the second time he’s turned to the story of the restless Figaro.

On 6 October 2018 (evening performance), David Hallberg will perform the title role in Onegin. We've waited so long for him to dance with the Bolshoi Ballet again, and now the time has finally come!

World Ballet Day once again provides viewers around the world with a unique backstage glimpse at the world's top ballet companies: the Australian Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet and the Royal Ballet will host live-streaming on Facebook. As in the previous four years, live rehearsals and daily classes will be interspersed with interviews of the leading masters and insights to other theaters of the participating countries.

 On the centenary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth, the Bolshoi Theatre staged the operetta Candide for the first time. Theatrical concert performance will be conducted by Maestro Tugan Sokhiev, Alexei Frandetti will serve as a director. The premiere run of shows will be held on the Historical stage on 29 and 30 September. 28.09.2018

The 243rd season on our New Stage will be opened by Savonlinna Opera Festival, the Bolshoi Theatre’s long-time partner. SOF is going to show Moscow audience one of the most powerful Verdi’s operas – Otello. Only two performances to see – on September 14 and 15.
