The Bolshoi Young artists opera program created in 2009 collaborates successfully with similar foreign projects. This time The Bolshoi audience will meet a real “golden collection” of young opera singers, who will represent 6 youth opera centers.

The Bolshoi Theatre and Pathé Live Company have announced the «Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema» 2015/16 season.

The Bolshoi Theatre continues to present one-off productions, while at the same time replenishing and lending variety to world ballet Shakespeariana. The end of the last season saw the world première of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s ballet, The Taming of the Shrew, and at the height of the present season, we have another world ballet première — Hamlet.

On the eve of the world première of the ballet Hamlet, Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, produced by Yuri Grigorovich, one of the best productions from the Bolshoi’s Shakespeare collection, is to be screened at cinemas in Russia and many other countries.

In the year of the 175th Tchaikovsky anniversary, the Bolshoi Theatre presents to its audiences Lev Dodin’s The Queen of Spades — a production which has already been shown at three of the world’s leading opera-houses. But in Russia, in addition to being the première of a notable Dodin production, it will also mark his debut as one of the world’s great directors of dramatic opera — in which capacity he has long been known abroad.

It will give a concert performance of The Marriage of Figaro at The Northern Lights Festival.

It is with profound sorrow that the management and company of The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia announce that, following serious illness, the great Russian singer and world opera diva, People’s Artist of the USSR Elena Vasilievna Obraztsova passed away on 12th January 2015. They express their profound condolences to her family and dear ones

Onegin, one of the most popular John Cranko creations thanks to which made by John Cranko owing to whom the thanks Stuttgart Ballet acquired world fame, entered the Bolshoi Theatre repertoire in 2013. Then came a performance in Moscow’s Onegin by Stuttgart Ballet soloists. And, finally, on the eve of Orthodox Christmas the Bolshoi Ballet Onegin soloists were invited to Stuttgart for a return visit: they danced the leads in Onegin with the Stuttgart Company and enjoyed a great success. Bolshoi Ballet is going to perform its The Taming of the Shrew in Monaco (December 19-21). The premiere of the ballet choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot took place this summer and made a great success. Expecting the Bolshoi’s visit to Monte-Carlo Jean-Christophe Maillot welcomes the troupe.

Performances of new Bolshoi’s Rigoletto will take place on 14 and 16-21 December.
